Note: The following applies to native COBOL only.
Native applications developed using a COBOL development system require a COBOL run-time server to provide the necessary run-time system and support.
Enterprise Server is your COBOL run-time server. It is supplied as part of
Enterprise Developer, which is your COBOL development system.
Enterprise Server is also supplied separately, and provides the execution environment for applications created with any IDE variant of
Enterprise Developer.
End users need to install COBOL run-time licenses before they can run applications that use the COBOL run-time system.
You need to:
- Ship
Enterprise Server with your application, if it is a modular application. We recommend that you ship the whole of
Enterprise Server to avoid compatibility issues and other problems.
- Ensure that the application you have developed has the proper
Enterprise Server licenses. Your end users need to install the licenses before they can run the application. This is done by using the
Micro Focus License Administration Tool. The Authorization Code, required to license the application, is either supplied when you ship the COBOL run-time server with the application or by end-user request from
Micro Focus.
