You do not enter any options on the command line. A screen appears when the command is entered, which prompts for the following:
Activate trace facility, which can be set to Y(es) or N(O). Y activates trace for the system components marked with a Y. N stops all trace.
Overwrite existing file, which can be Y(es) or N(o). Y overwrites the existing trace file; N creates a new trace file.
Functions to trace lists the following functions. Y turns trace on for that function, N turns it off.

Pressing F3 saves the changes you have made; F12 discards them. Both function keys end the transaction.
