Server Explorer is
a feature that enables you to connect to servers, as well as view and access their resources. For example, you can connect to, view and access the following resources:
- Data Connections
- Servers
- Event Logs
- Services
Server Explorer shows the following server nodes:
- Micro Focus Servers - shows the available
Enterprise Server instances.
- Micro Focus Managed Servers - shows the regions of
Enterprise Server for .NET.
Note: This section provides instructions only about how to create and manage
Enterprise Server instances. For help with managed regions, refer to the product help for
Enterprise Server for .NET.
In your COBOL development system, you can also view and access a
Micro Focus server.
From Server Explorer you can:
- Connect to a
Micro Focus server and check which enterprise servers are running
- Start and stop
Micro Focus enterprise servers
- Create or delete
Micro Focus enterprise servers
- Run and monitor Mainframe Subsystem applications
- Access the enterprise server administration facilities
Note: You can also perform some of these tasks from within Solution Explorer and the context-menu commands available at project level.

- View the available
Micro Focus enterprise servers on your local machine or connect to an enterprise server running on a remote machine
- Specify sign on details as required
- Open the
Enterprise Server Administration page to configure enterprise servers.
- Associate Mainframe Subsystem applications with enterprise servers.
- Start or stop enterprise servers.
- Create or delete enterprise servers
- Update the status of the enterprise servers.
- Run the mainframe application.
- Use the
Enterprise Server administration facilities to monitor the execution of your mainframe applications.
