Use the following syntax to launch the
Data File Tools (Technology Preview) IDE from your Enterprise Developer command line prompt:
mfdatatools2 [file-type][path][filename][option...]
- file-type
- This parameter is optional. If omitted,
Data File Tools (Technology Preview) attempts to auto-detect the type of file, and open the appropriate editor (Data File or Structure File). If specified,
file-type must be one of:
- /data
- Specifies that the file to be opened is a data file, and will be opened in the Data File Editor.
- /dfs
- Specifies that the file to be opened is a structure file, and will be opened in the Structure File Editor.
- /create_dfs
- Specifies that a structure file is to be created for the specified data file, by either specifying the data file or an associated
.idy file.
- path
- This parameter is optional. If specified,
Data File Tools (Technology Preview) attempts to open the named file located in the path specified. If omitted,
Data File Tools (Technology Preview) attempts to open the named file located in the current working directory.
- filename
- This parameter is optional. If specified,
Data File Tools (Technology Preview) uses the
path (if specified) and
filename to open the file in the appropriate editor. If omitted,
Data File Tools (Technology Preview) opens with no file loaded.
- option
- These parameters are optional, and will only take effect if the
/data file type is also specified. If omitted,
Data File Tools (Technology Preview) opens at the
Open File dialog box, where you can set the required options. You can specify one or more of:
- /org
org-type
- The organization of the file.
org-type can be one of:
- seq
- Sequential files.
- lseq
- Line sequential files.
- rel
- Relative files.
- idx
- Indexed files.
- /reclen
- The maximum record length.
