Creating a local catalog

Create a local catalog so that you can drag and drop copies of mainframe items to it, in order to edit and test them.
  1. In Server Explorer, expand Micro Focus Servers, right-click localhost, then click New Enterprise Server.
Note: If Server Explorer is not already displayed, click View > Server Explorer.

The Create New Enterprise Server screen appears.

  2. Enter a name in the Name field.
  3. Check the 64-bit check box if you need to create a 64-bit server.
  4. Click Ellipsis to the right of the Template field.

    The available server templates appear.

  5. Select the JCL template and click OK.

The JCL template already has the configuration required for a local catalog. If you select another template, you must make sure that it is MSS and JES enabled.

  6. If you have a project currently open that you want to use with the catalog, in the Associate with pane, select the project. By associating the project with the catalog, you can configure certain behavior of the related enterprise server when the project is opened; see Configuring Enterprise Server from within the IDE for more details.
  7. Click OK.

The new enterprise server is created.

The default location for the local catalog is set according to the $IDE_LOADLIB variable, as set in the enterprise server. If required, you can change this location in a number of ways.
