WebSphere MQ and PL/I installation and usage notes

Your operating system is currently unsupported. Continuing WebSphere MQ 7.0 installation is now recommended.

Even after clicking OK, the WebSphere MQ Version 7 Software requirements page may indicate an error, and that the WebSphere MQ Eclipse Platform version 3.3 software was not installed.

Perform the following steps to address this issue.

1. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the location of the WebSphere MQ installer executable. This path typically ends with \MQSx.x (where x.x is the WebSphere MQ base release number you are installing).
2. Right-click on the setup executable (setup.exe) and select Properties. The Properties dialog box displays for the file.
3. Select the Compatibility tab.
4. Under Compatibility mode, select the Run this program in compatibility mode for: check box, then select Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) from the list. Click OK.
   Tip: Selecting Windows XP from the list may also work, though the Windows 7 architecture is closer to Vista than it is to XP.

• Verify the software requirements. Windows Vista (or later with the correctly specified compatibility mode) and WebSphere MQ Eclipse Platform Version 3.3 are required for a full install of WebSphere MQ. If either prerequisite is missing, review the Installation Prerequisites and Additional Notes sections in this document for additional information.
• Specify the following when setting up the installation for use with Open PL/I:

  Wizard Page/Dialog Box	Setting
  Network Configuration: Configure WebSphere MQ for users defined on Windows 2000 or later domain controllers.	No
  WebSphere MQ Installation: Select Installation language	As needed

• Specify the following when setting up the MQ Network Configuration.

  Wizard Page/Dialog Box	Action
  Prepare WebSphere MQ	Click Setup the Default Configuration
  WebSphere MQ Default Configuration	Click Set up Default Configuration...
  Default Configuration Wizard: Select Options	Validate defaults and click Next.
  Default Configuration Wizard: Join Default Cluster	For this tutorial and small, local VM installations, select the Yes, make it the repository for the cluster check box.
  Default Configuration Wizard: Repository Location	For this tutorial and small, local VM installations, select No.

• You can accept the installation defaults when setting up the WebSphere MQ Service Pack installation for use with Open PL/I.

You can use either of the following methods:

Method 1

1. Ensure that your LIB environment variable contains the path to your Windows SDK LIB directory.
2. Start an Enterprise Developer command prompt, 32-bit or 64-bit depending on the application, as an administrator.
3. Change to the %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Micro Focus\Enterprise Developer\src\enterpriseserver\xa directory (default location).
4. Enter build db2.

Method 2

1. Ensure that your LIB environment variable contains the path to your Windows SDK LIB directory.
2. Start an Enterprise Developer command prompt, 32-bit or 64-bit depending on the application.
3. Copy all files from the %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Micro Focus\Enterprise Developer\src\enterpriseserver\xa directory (default location) to any location where you have WRITE permission.
4. Change to the directory containing the copied files.
5. Enter build db2.

Enterprise Developer builds esdb2xa.dll in the current directory.
