Special Properties

A property can have one of several special meanings in the run time context. These can be modeled by the "Special Property" attribute:

Special Property

Description

Element Type Indicates whether the property value of this property contains a match name (see Element Type).

This information is used at run time when AWM has to create a new element. Tools have to provide the correct match name as an output parameter or AWM cannot associate the new element to its element type.

Element Suffix Indicates whether the property value of this property contains a file suffix.

This information is used by edit/browse actions to be able to invoke the correct editor.

Marker Line Number Indicates whether the property value of this property contains a line number used to mark the line in an editor.

This information is used if an edit or browse action is called in a tree table, which for example has been created by a search action.

Property Group Indicates whether the property value of this property contains the name of an RDz property group.

This is only used by the Edit Local File tool which is part of the Eclipse Function Package and is only relevant in an RDz installation.

In all other scenarios or if this special property is not used, the Associate Property Group tool from the RDz function package is available.
