A global action describes the location of an executable action described by an action descriptor. Global actions are usually used for action descriptors that do not necessarily belong to a certain type (element type, filter type, …).
There are two types of global actions: workbench actions and editor actions.
- Workbench actions:
- appear in the Eclipse menu bar and additionally under the sub menu
Global actions of the application in the Team Developer Tree view.
- have action context (initial property values) which are created from the user’s selection.
Note: Caused by an existing restriction in Eclipse 4.x, global actions are currently not shown in the Eclipse menu bar.
It is not guaranteed that the Editor Actions are visible in all Eclipse editors. It depends on the Editor provider. Editor Actions are displayed at least in the context menu of the following editors:
- All
Micro Focus Eclipse text editors integrated in
Enterprise Developer (like the COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, JCL editors and others)
- All RDz integrated language editors (like the LPEX, COBOL, PL/I, Assembler, JCL editors and others)
- All standard Eclipse text editors (like the Java, XML, Text editors and others)
