Managing enterprise server regions from Server Explorer

Server Explorer is a window in Visual Studio that enables you to connect to servers, as well as view and access their resources.

If Server Explorer is not displayed, click View > Server Explorer or View > Other Windows > Server Explorer.

Server Explorer shows the following server nodes:

  • Micro Focus Analysis Server - shows the connection to an Enterprise Analyzer or COBOL Analyzer analysis server. See Code Analysis > Application Analysis Server for details.
  • Micro Focus Servers - this is the connection to an Enterprise Server Common Web Administration. Shows the available Directory Servers, and enterprise server regions.
  • Micro Focus ES.NET Servers - shows the regions of Enterprise Server for .NET.
Note: This section provides instructions only about how to create and manage Enterprise Server instances. For help with ES.NET regions, refer to the product help for Enterprise Server for .NET.

From Server Explorer you can:

  • Connect to an Enterprise Server Common Web Administration.
  • View and add Micro Focus Directory Servers, and access the enterprise server regions.
  • Create, delete, start, and stop enterprise server regions.
  • Run and monitor Mainframe Subsystem Applications or Enterprise Server Applications.
  • Access the enterprise server administration facilities.
Note: You can also perform some of these tasks from within Solution Explorer and the context-menu commands available at project level.
