Save the Record Layout File

When the Data File Editor loads a data (.dat) file, it looks in the same folder for a record layout file with the same name as the data file but with extension .str. Our data file is named staff.dat; therefore you need to save the record layout file in the ClassicDataToolsDemo project folder and name it staff.str.

1. Click File > Save; then navigate back up to the ClassicDataToolsDemo project folder.
2. In the File Name field, type staff.str; then click Save.
3. Click File > Close to close the Record Layout Editor.
