Route Configuration Dialog Box

Use this dialog box to configure PTR routes A PTR route configures required information for printing using PTR. It consists of three parts: the host path (configures the communication link between PTR and the host), the host filter (a DLL that initializes the host connection, manipulates the printer data for the selected output device, and sends the data to the output device), and the printer queue path (configures the communication link between PTR and the output device, such as a printer or file). .

Route Name

Enter the name of the route. This name can be anything. You can use a printer description or a printer location, such as LaserJet or Accounting_1. Each route consists of three main parts: host filter, host path, and print queue.

Disable Route

Select this check box to disable the current route.

Host Path

The communication path between the host and the Print and Transaction Router, such as a TCP/IP connection.

Create Path

Click this button to create a new path. This opens a series of dialog boxes for creating the new path, starting with the Select Path dialog box.

Host Filter

A host filter is a DLL that performs several functions. When you run PTR, the host filter initializes the host connection. When it receives data from the host, the host filter makes adjustments to the data for the selected output device, and then sends the manipulated data to the output device. Default host filters are installed to the InfoConnect program folder. The default on English language systems is C:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\InfoConnect on 64-bit systems and C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\InfoConnect on 32-bit systems. A host filter file uses the file extension .HFF.

Configure

Click this button to configure any options related to the selected host filter. Note that not all host filters require configuration.

Printer Queue Path

The communication path between PTR and an output device, such as a printer or a file. The printer path uses an Application Type of PTR in its path configuration. PTR provides default printer queue paths that you can choose for COM1, LPT1, or the Windows Print Spooler.

Create Path

Click this button to create a new path. When you click Create Path, the Select Path dialog box appears. After you select a path, you can continue to configure your path settings.

Printer Type

The type of printer, such as Document, ATB, Bag/Tag, or Boarding.

Timeout

The length of time (0 to 3600 seconds) you want the host to wait for a response from the printer. If you type None or 0 (zero) in the text box, the host filter will always wait.

Translation

Type the file name of the translation table that PTR will use to convert characters sent from the printer to the host or from the host to the printer. PTR provides several sample translation tables that you can use. These are installed to the InfoConnect program folder. The default on English language systems is C:\Program Files (x86)\Micro Focus\InfoConnect on 64-bit systems and C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\InfoConnect on 32-bit systems.
