Key Interpretation

Clear key interpretation

Specifies which data to clear when you clear data from the screen.

Clear entire display - Clear all information on the screen, including delimiters.

Unprotected only - Clear only unprotected fields.

Specify key

Specifies the format to use to report the cursor position to the host when you use the Specify keystroke (ASCII or Hex).

Cursor

Cursor at end of display

The action that you want the cursor to take when it reaches the last column of the last line on the screen and you type a character.

Return key moves cursor to

The position that you want the cursor to move to when you press ENTER.

Options

Insert key inserts space

Insert a space at the cursor location when you press Insert (in addition to toggling between insert-in-line and overwrite mode). If you clear this option, pressing Insert will toggle between insert-in-line and overwrite mode, but will not insert a space at the cursor location.

Specify key sends page number

Send the host the page number (along with the column and line information that is normally sent) when you use the Specify keystroke. If you clear this option, only the column and line information are sent.

Persistent insert key

Select this option to keep the following keystrokes from disabling Insert mode: TAB, ENTER, UP ARROW, DOWN ARROW, RIGHT ARROW, LEFT ARROW, WORD LEFT, WORD RIGHT, END OF LINE, BACKSPACE, BACK TAB, TRANSMIT, and DELETE. When this option is selected, only the Insert key will disable Insert mode.

Special scroll mode

Select this option to display any data received from the host on the subsequent page when the current page is filled.

If you clear this option, the data appears on the current page only. When the current page is filled, the cursor moves home on the same page, and the data received from the host overwrites the data currently on the screen.

Destructive backspace

Select this option to delete the character at the cursor location when you press the backspace key.

If you clear this option, pressing the backspace key moves the cursor to the left without deleting any characters.

Display return key symbol

Display a carriage return symbol when you press ENTER. (This does not affect CRs sent by the host.)

Display tab key symbol

Display a tab symbol when you press TAB.

Enable word wrap

Select this option to move the word being typed to the next line if the word has more characters than can fit on the current line.

If you clear this option, the word being typed will be split between the current line and next line when no room is left on the current line.

NOTE:This option is primarily used with LINC applications. If you enable this feature, be sure to manually add delimiters at the end and beginning of each line.

Enable alarm when cursor is at

Sound a beep when the cursor is in the specified Row and Column.
