Amazon Web Services (AWS) recommends protecting Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) instances through the creation of snapshots. The information and the scripts provided in this package allow administrators to integrate the snapshotting process with a Data Protector backup, such that a scheduled or manually triggered backup can generate snapshots of relevant EC2 instances. These can then be stored in a Data Protector Backup To Disk device targeting Amazon's own S3 storage.
The package also describes and supports the restore of such snapshots.
