Santa Clara, Calif. – Jan. 19, 2022 – Micro Focus (LSE: MCRO; NYSE: MFGP) today announced that it has been recognized as a “Visionary” in the 2022 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Insight Engines Report* with its AI-based Unstructured Data Analytics Platform, IDOL, being evaluated. Micro Focus believes the recognition in the Magic Quadrant reflects IDOL's success in its customer use cases.
In its Insights Engine evaluation, Gartner reviewed 15 vendors in this market. Gartner assessed the strengths and cautions of each offering based on a comprehensive set of evaluation criteria that were positioned according to their Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision.

IDOL uses artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to leverage key insights stored deep within unstructured data. This is complemented by a comprehensive set of supporting data repositories and ontologies resulting in 500-plus search and analytical functions, helping customers bridge existing and emerging technologies in the race to digital transformation.
Micro Focus is working to bring graph-based capabilities to the heart of IDOL in support of conceptual reasoning and the induction of new facts from those that are extracted. This is coupled with the goal to support cloud-based deployments, starting with AWS.
Micro Focus IDOL provides AI and machine learning unstructured data analytics of all text and rich media with support for more than 1,300 data formats. It enables out-of-the-box access to more than 150 data repositories behind and beyond firewalls (for example, Documentum, Dropbox, and such) that makes it possible for data to be indexed wherever it resides without disruption. Today’s data landscape consists of fragmented and siloed information, driving the need to easily connect to data across disparate content repositories, including cloud-based platforms.
