Using the Demo Program from Java

Install the Micro Focus XDBC software, accepting the default options in the installation script.

Switch to the directory in which Micro Focus XDBC is installed:

cd %GENESIS_HOME%\bin

Generate a default database configuration file using the sample script mfgenconf.bat.

Generate the demonstration database with the sample script mfdemo.bat.

This script:

creates an empty system catalog, database system tables, and base views of the catalog
loads the system catalog with information from XFDs from a sample veterinary office application

You can now use the command-line query tool to retrieve some information from the sample database you have just created. Enter mfsql.

Enter the SQL command:

SELECT * FROM pets;

This should retrieve the 19 records contained in the pets file:
