Two configuration files are central to Micro Focus XDBC. By default, they are named mfdbc.cfg and net.ini. In local configurations, only mfdbc.cfg is used. Network installations require both configuration files. In this case, mfdbc.cfg resides on the server and net.ini resides on the client.
Configuration files provide you with two main benefits:
When creating DSNs on network clients, you don't have to configure each DSN individually. Instead, just point to a configuration file on the server.
When you need to change your Micro Focus XDBC configuration, you can modify the configuration file as needed without changing individual DSNs.
