In client-server configurations, Micro Focus XDBC offers one form of network security: user ID and password encryption.
Use the -k option to the xdbcsrvr command to encrypt the database user ID and password that goes across the network. Use it to specify the masking key value used to perform the encryption, then use the KEY_CONNECT variable in the file net.ini to specify the same value on each client machine. See Network Configuration for information about the net.ini file.
See Starting Micro Focus XDBC on the Server (Network Only) for more information on starting and stopping the server component of Micro Focus XDBC.
