You can view the information from the server logs in the IDE inside the
Console view. The following logs are available:
- General log showing information about creating, starting or stopping of an enterprise server -
the log appears in a separate console,
Enterprise Server: Local/ServerName within the Console view.
- Enterprise Server console log for each individual server instance (only available for local servers) - a separate
console opens within the
Console view for each server instance.
To display the general server log:
- When you create, start or stop a server, the information from the general log is displayed automatically within the
Console view.
To display the Enterprise Server console log for a server instance:
- Open the
Server Explorer view in the IDE.
- Expand the list of servers.
Tip: Use the filter box in the top-right corner of the Server Explorer to restrict the servers displayed: type in the box to automatically
restrict the list of servers displayed.
- Right-click the enterprise server whose log you would like to see, and click
Show Console Log.
This opens the
Console view and loads the output from the console log for the server in it.
As you are using the server, all diagnostic messages from the log file will continue to appear in the
Console view.
As you continue to work on your projects, the
Console view continues to display various messages such as details from building your projects. To redisplay the general server log:
- Click the drop-down arrow of the Display Selected Console button () in the
Output window, and click
Enterprise Server: Local/ServerName .
To redisplay the console log for a server:
- Click the drop-down arrow of the Display Selected Console button () in the
Output window, and click
Enterprise Server Console Log: Local/ServerName to redisplay the Enterprise Server console log.
