Restriction: This feature requires that
Visual COBOL Development Hub is installed on the remote machine.
You can change the connection settings (type and mode) and location to an existing remote project. For example, you might
need to change the connection file system type if you want to add your project to Subversion, which requires a Samba connection.
- In COBOL Explorer, right-click your remote project and click
Remote Settings.
The
Remote Project Connection Details dialog box is displayed.
- To the right of
Connection mode, select the new file system setting.
As connections are file system specific, the connection in use for the previous file system is removed from the
Connection name field.
- Click
Connection name and select a connection.
Note: Only existing connections using your chosen file system are displayed; if the remote host connection is not listed when you
click the
Connection name field, click
New Connection and use the
New Connection wizard to create a new one.
- In the Remote Location field, if required, change the path to the project's working directory.
- If you changed to Network file system (Samba, NFS), in the
Connection mode field, specify the path with which to locate the project on the local machine.
Tip: Select
Use default location to use your current workspace.
- Click
OK.
Tip: Changing the project's connection type can result in the project losing the connection to its version control system. To re-establish
connection, perform the following steps:
- Right-click your project.
- Click

This opens the
Share Project dialog box.
- Click the repository type you want to re-establish connection with.
- Click
Next.
This opens the
Share Project Wizard dialog box.
- Select the required repository location.
- Click
Finish.
