Restriction: This topic applies only when the Enterprise Server feature is enabled.
- On the Home page of Enterprise Server Administration, click
Add at the bottom of the table of servers.
- Specify a name for the server in
Name.
- Select the
Working Mode for the server. If you are creating your server in an environment that supports both 32-bit and 64-bit applications, you
must specify the server's working mode. A server with a 32-bit working mode can run only 32-bit applications. A server with
a 64-bit working mode can run only 64-bit applications.
Note:
- You cannot change the working mode of the server once it has been created. You can however, change the mode when you copy
or import a server.
- Click
Next>>.
- Specify a host name or IP address in the second of the two fields next to
Server Address. You can leave the value as *:*, where the first asterisk (*) indicates the IP address of the current machine and the second
indicates any available port number.
- Specify the location for files output by the Directory Server, such as trace and dump diagnostics files, in
System Directory. This directory cannot be shared between enterprise servers. The default is
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Micro Focus User\Visual COBOL\WORKAREA\es-name where
es-name is the name of the enterprise server.
If you specify a directory in this field, that directory must exist; Enterprise Server does not create it for you.
- Specify the start-up configuration you want in the fields under
Startup Options.
- Specify any trace flags you want to be set in the fields under
Trace Flags.
- Specify any configuration information the server requires in
Configuration Information For information on what you can specify, see the section
Configuration Information in the chapter
Servers in your Configuration and Administration Guide.
- Specify a text description of the server in
Description (optional).
- Click
Add.
