Note: This functionality is only available if you are connected to a
Enterprise Analyzer or
COBOL Analyzer repository.
As a developer, you need to be able to see if changing a file will affect the other files in your project as well as the files
in the whole application. To do that, you need to establish a connection to an
Enterprise Analyzer or
COBOL Analyzer repository in the
Analysis Server Explorer window.
There are two ways to get the direct references for files: from Solution Explorer and from the
Analysis References window.
To get direct references from Solution Explorer:
- Select one or more files, right-click and select
.
- In the
Find Direct References dialog box, specify a workspace to search for references, and click
OK.
From the
Analysis References window:
- Click
Search for Direct References in the
Analysis References window task bar. This opens the
Find Direct References dialog box
- Type the file names separated by commas, and click
OK. The search field supports wildcards.
Alternatively, you can open the
Analysis References window from Server Explorer:
- Right-click a workspace in
Analysis Server Explorer, and click
Search for Direct References.
The
Analysis References window displays information about the references such as copybooks used, calls to other programs, JCL files, etc. The results
also include information about server paths and local paths.
- Customize the columns that are displayed and the grouping of the results. The columns you can select are: Query File, Query
File Path, Query File Type, Reference, Reference Path, Type, and Relation.
- Group the results by: Query File, Query File Local Path, Query File Path, Query File Type, Reference, Similar Local Path,
Reference Path, Type, and Relation.
To select columns to display or change the grouping of the results, right-click in the
Analysis References window and choose from the items in the context menu.
Note: Local path resolution will only work if the currently opened solution contains the files in the selected Analysis Server workspace.
