Restriction: This topic applies to Windows environments only.
Depending on the location of files created from a
Visual COBOL command prompt, you might need to start it as an administrator. To do this:
- Windows 10

- From your Windows desktop, click
Start >
Visual COBOL, right-click
Visual COBOL Command Prompt (32-bit) or
Visual COBOL Command Prompt (64-bit), and click
More > Run as Administrator.
- Windows 11

- Click the
Start button in the Task Bar. Use the search field in the Start menu to locate
Visual COBOL
Command Prompt (32-bit) or the
Visual COBOL
Command Prompt (64-bit). Right-click the item, and click
Run as Administrator.
- Open
Windows Terminal on your machine, and click
Open a new tab. From the drop-down menu, you can select either
Visual COBOL
Command Prompt (32-bit) or
Visual COBOL
Command Prompt (64-bit). Press
Ctrl when you click the item to run as administrator.
