The Directory Server security available in with Micro Focus Directory Server version 5.0 and later is supported with the Enterprise Server External Security Facility through a special ESM. This ESM uses the same user and group definitions and the same permissions.
Internal Security cannot be used alongside other ESMs. That is, you cannot have the Internal Security ESM and another ESM in the same Security Manager list. However, you can use the Internal Security ESM for MF Directory Server while using other ESMs for your enterprise servers.
See To remove a security manager from the Directory server's security manager list.
When you remove that last security manager, it will be replaced by MFDS Internal Security Manager. MF Directory Server will now use the legacy model to control application access. For example, when an enterprise server requests its configuration information from MF Directory Server, the legacy user and group definitions will be used to control the access.
See To restrict administrative access to MF Directory Server.
