You enable the Security Facility to talk to External Security Managers (ESMs) by providing plugin modules, referred to as ESM modules. When you specify a security manager that you want to use (see To add a security manager to the pool), you give the name and location of the ESM module that will be used, along with any configuration details that the module might require. These configuration details are dependent on the module.
Micro Focus supplies the following ESM modules.
- The MLDAP ESM Module uses an LDAP directory as its external security manager.
- The CAS ESM Module (casesm) uses the Enterprise Server legacy security definitions (stored in the CICS resource tables).
- The OS ESM Module (osesm) uses the host operating system to verify users; it does not provide resource access control (but can be used alongside other ESM modules that do).
Note:
The Directory Server security model used in the previous (5.0) release, is supported through a special MFDS Internal Security Manager. This manager is always used for Directory Server when no other security manager is present in its security manager list.
