Restricting Administration Access

Directory Server security involves two forms of access control:

• access to configuration information by applications (for example, an enterprise server reading the configuration details it requires when it starts up)
• access to administration screens via the the Directory Server web interface

When you add active security managers to the Directory Server's security manager list, they will be used to control application access to configuration information. To use the managers to control access to administration screens, you must set Restrict administration access in the appropriate set of Directory Server configuration options.
