Using Security Managers

Before you can use an external security manager (ESM) to resolve security queries, you must add it to the Security Manager pool. Each entry in the pool specifies the ESM module that will be used to communicate with the equivalent ESM, and provides any configuration information that the module requires; for example, the information might contain a network address for the ESM.

The security facility will send security queries to one or more of the external security managers from the pool. A security manager list specifies which managers from the pool will be used. Once a manager has been added to the pool, you can use it in multiple lists. You can create a separate list for each enterprise server and for your Micro Focus Directory server. You can also create a default list for all servers that don't specify their own list.

The order of the entries in a security manager list determines the order in which they will be queried.
