To Assign Permissions on a Specific Enterprise Server When Using MFDS Internal Security

  1. On the home screen for Enterprise Server Administration, click the Editbutton adjacent to the server for which you will be assigning permissions.
  2. If the Servertab is not selected, please select it now.

The Server tab has three subtabs.

  3. If the Properties subtab is not selected, please select it now.

The subtabs of Properties contain numerous parameter settings.

  4. If the Permissions subtab is not selected, please select it now.

The left hand box displays the available user groups. Those groups that have already been granted explicit permissions on this enterprise server are marked with an asterisk.

The right hand box displays the permission settings for the currently selected group.

  5. Select the group for which you want to set permissions.
  6. In the right hand box, check each permission that you want to grant, and uncheck any that you do not want to grant. To grant all permissions, click Allow All.

The permissions are displayed in a tree structure. Those on lower branches require those on the branches above. For example, the permission to restore a repository requires the permission to import a repository. That is, to restore a repository, the group must have both restore and import permissions.

Where a check box for a permission is greyed out, it indicates that the permission is required by other permissions that have been granted to the group. To revoke a permission that is required by others, you must first revoke those other permissions.

  7. Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 as required to assign permissions to other groups.
Note: Where a group has not been explicitly granted permissions on a particular enterprise server, its ability to access or modify that server is determined by its general permissions. These are assigned by editing the group definition.
