System-wide Environment Variables

You need to set the following environment variables that apply to all activities that take place in Server Enterprise Edition:

• COBDIR. Specifies the directory that contains Server Enterprise Edition
• PATH. Specifies the directories to be searched by all UNIX programs, including the run-time system, when finding executables to be run
• LD_LIBRARY_PATH, LIBPATH or SHLIB_PATH, depending on your UNIX system. Specifies the directory or directories for the UNIX system, cob and the run-time system to search for shared libraries and callable shared objects.

If you want to do any database access from within Server Enterprise Edition you need to add the necessary libraries to the PATH environment variable and to the LIBPATH, SHLIB_PATH or LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variables, depending on your UNIX system.
