Silk Performer provides Oracle API functions along with Oracle database traffic recording and replaying support. The new functions replace the obsolete Oracle call interface (OCI) functions whose names start with Ora_ and Oci_ (used in previous Silk Performer versions). Although the old OCI functions still work, use the new Oracle API functions since the Oracle OCI Recorder generates scripts based on these functions.
Oracle API functions provide a simple and powerful interface to Oracle databases version 7.x and version 8.x. All features of Oracle 7.x and Oracle 8.x except Oracle object support are accessible through these Oracle API functions, including
array binding and fetching
piecewise binding and fetching
binding PL/SQL tables
calling PL/SQL blocks and stored procedures
cursor binding
support for all Oracle data types, including LOB (Large Object) data types
All Oracle API functions were implemented with the help of Oracle's OCI functions version 7. The optional parameters concept enables both simple usage of the API on the one hand and performing specific database operations using the same functions on the other hand.
