If your data source is a Microsoft Excel worksheet, you should follow these guidelines to ensure a successful and maintainable
data-driven test setup:
- Make your column names self-describing. This will make the data source setup in
Silk Central easier to maintain.
- If you use multiple worksheets, use consistent column names across the worksheets. This will make it easier for you to apply
filters for selecting columns for your data source setup.
- Use certain columns as “key” columns. Key columns will allow you to maintain your data source file, while
Silk Central is still able to identify specific data rows due to the value in the key column, despite changes in row orders. Values within
a key column should be unique.
