PlateSpin Transformation Manager discovers available cloud placement groups for the target AWS Cloud platform. Placement Groups vary according to the AWS Cloud selected for the platform. The permissions of the AWS subscription might also influence the placement groups available for the platform.
NOTE:AWS uses a Placement Group to apply a strategy for sharing if the workload Tenancy is set to Shared hardware. The cloud instance selected for the target workload is compatible with this strategy.
For an AWS Platform, the Placement Groups tab displays the following information for each discovered Placement Group resource:
The name of the resource in the target environment.
The AWS Region where the Placement Group can be used.
The AWS strategy for the Placement Group, such as Cluster, Spread, or Partition. The strategy of the placement group determines how the instances are organized within the group. See Placement Groups in the AWS EC2 Documentation.
The AWS status of the Placement Group (available or not) at the last refresh of the target resource information.
For an AWS Platform, the Edit Placement Group dialog displays the following information for a specified resource:
The parent target platform for the Placement Group.
The name of the Placement Group in the target platform environment.
(Optional) Specify a brief description of the Placement Group. This text appears by default in the Placement Groups list.
A list of the workloads that have been configured to use the Placement Group in Manual (tracking) mode.
