9.3 Failure to Create a Clustered LVM Volume Group

When you create a clustered Logical Volume Manager (LVM) volume group, the command fails with the following error:

Error 23384: Device /dev/sde is not shared by clvmd

This error can occur if the installed Linux kernel does not contain the latest Clustered LVM software. Clustered LVM requires the Linux kernel 2.6.32.45-0.3 or later. You can get the latest kernel version by using the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) update channel for OES. For information about applying patches for your server, see Updating (Patching) an OES Server in the OES 2023: Installation Guide.

The correct version of CLVM software is included in the SLES 11 SP2 or later releases.
