Users can seamlessly access their files (on-premise or cloud) through the file explorer (Windows) or the Finder (Mac). In the background, the CIS client integrates with the explorer/finder to provide this functionality through the CIFS protocol. The benefits are:
Access to the files uploaded to the cloud (Windows and Mac workstations).
Displays the cloud overlay icon on the files uploaded to the cloud (Windows workstation).
To enjoy the above benefits,
Users need to install the CIS client on their workstation. If the client is not installed, then you will not be able to access the files uploaded to the cloud.
An administrator needs to enable the --block-unmanaged-cis-reads option on the OES server by using the novcifs utility.
The CIS client can be installed on Windows and Mac workstations. The following are the requirements for installing and running the CIS client:
Windows: Windows 11 and Windows 10.
Mac: macOS 13 (Ventura), macOS 12 (Monterey), macOS 11 (Big Sur), and macOS 10.15 (Catalina).
You must install the CIS 1.1 client or later (OES 2023 Patches) on the Big Sur and Monterey clients.
