11.0 Logging

Different log files are used to capture logging details of services and utilities.

Table 11-1 Log Details

Service

Log File

DNS

Details are logged in the /var/opt/novell/log/named/named.run file.

NTP

Details are logged in the /var/log/ntp file.

SSH

Details are logged in the /var/log/messages file.

rsync

Details are logged in the /var/log/messages file.

xadsd

Details are logged in the /var/log/messages file. Only critical events are logged.

sysvolsync

Details are logged in the /var/opt/novell/xad/log/sysvolsync.log file.

Kerberos

Details are logged in the /var/opt/novell/xad/log/kdc.log file.

Samba

Details are logged in the /var/log/samba/log.smbd file.

eDirectory startup

Details are logged in the /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/log/ndsd.log file.

eDirectory running

Details are logged in the /var/opt/novell/eDirectory/log/ndstrace.log file.

Winbindd parent process

Details are logged in the /var/log/samba/log.winbindd file.

Winbindd Interaction

Details are logged in /var/log/samba/log.wb-<DOMAIN> file.

Winbindd id-mapping

Details are logged in the /var/log/samba/log.winbindd-idmap file.

LDAP events are not logged by eDirectory.
