To simplify the process of migrating workflows from one environment to another, the Workflow Administration Console allows you to use the export and import feature depending on your access permissions. The workflows are exported in a zip format, which you can import to your environment. You can then use the Workflow Builder to edit the imported workflows. The console maintains all imported workflows in draft state and requires you to publish again before using them.
There is no limit to the number of workflows that you can export, but you cannot import more workflows than the configured size limit. If you import a number of workflows, the Workflow Administration Console informs you of the status of each workflow, including whether the import was successful. Note that you must re-import any workflows that fail to import.
While importing, if the Workflow Administration Console has a workflow, form, or template with the same name, it overwrites the existing data with the imported data.
To export or import workflows:
Click Catalog > Workflow.
Select the check box for one or more workflows, and click the Export Workflows icon.
Type a file name to export.
Click Export.
The Workflow Administration Console creates a zipped file containing the selected workflows, and under each workflow file its associated data, such as, request and approval forms, and notification templates. Click the zipped file to download.
To import workflows, click the Import Workflows icon and click Choose.
Navigate to the folder where your workflows zip file is located, then click Open. The application displays the associated forms and notifications included in the zipped file.
Click Import.
When you publish an imported workflow, the associated forms and templates are also published.
