4.4 Enabling Short Name Creations (Windows 7 and Windows 10)

  1. Click Window key and type gpedit.msc, then press the Enter key. This launches the Local Group Policy Editor.

  2. Navigate to Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Filesystem > NTFS.

  3. Double click Short name creation options.

  4. Select Enabled.

  5. Select Options > Enable on all volumes, then click OK.
