View and search data managed by Fusion. Your view and the available actions you can take is based on whether the data is unstructured (documents from SharePoint, Google, file systems, and so on) or structured (data in database tables). Your ability to view data and take action is further managed by your permissions.

When viewing the research page, you will see the action ribbon, filter panel, and document list.

You can view data in several presentations. The view you select determines the initial information that is available in the data list and any additional panels. Your last selected view persists until you make a different selection. The activity ribbon and filter panel are present in all views.

  • The Grid view (grid view icon) includes the data list, but displays different information than the data list in the list view. In this view, you cannot see the content of the selected unstructured document and the data detail panel is not available.

  • The List view (list view icon) includes the data list and either the data view panel or the data detail panel. To select the view for the second panel, click the preferences icon (preferences icon) and then click Content to show the data view panel or Detail to show the data detail panel, which includes data analysis, tag information and actions, and metadata information.

  • The Detailed view (detailed view icon) includes the data list, the data view panel, and the data detail panel. In this view, you can see the content of the selected document or data, if available. The detail panel includes data analysis, tag information and actions, and metadata information.

If you select a structured data item processed from in the data list, the content view panel closes.

TIP: If you do not have permission to preview the content of individual items, you cannot view the document view panel and therefore the Detailed view is not selectable.

  • Preferences (preferences icon) lets you determine how the list view is presented and, if you have permission, whether to view the content of the item with or without masking in place. Your selection is remembered until you make a different selection.

    • In the Show on List View section, click Content to show the document content view panel or click Detail to show the document detail panel, which includes data analysis, tag information and actions, and metadata information.

If you select to view Content, the panel will switch to the detail panel when you select a structured data item in the data list.

TIP: If you do not have permission to preview the content of individual items or the selected document has been protected, you will not be able to select the content view.

    • In the Data Masking section, click Unmasked View to show the original item content (text or near-native view) with all identified grammar values visible or click Masked View to show the item content with the values for configured grammar rules fully or partially masked.

TIP: If you do not have permission to view masked data, you will not see these options.

Action ribbon

The action ribbon displays above the data list panel and allows you to take various actions related to the current list.

  • From the search menu (), you can start a new search using the advanced search builder or edit the criteria for the advanced search you are currently performing. For more information about the advanced search builder, see Search builder.

  • From the Manage menu (Manage UI icon), you can create a workspace in Manage that includes selected unstructured documents or all of the documents in the current document list. For more information, see Save to a new workspace.

NOTE: Structured data (tables, structured data table icon) cannot be added to a workspace. If you have structured data selected, you will received a message that this data cannot be added to the workspace.

  • From the export menu (), you can save the current data list as a CSV file. You have the option to specify the metadata to be included in the export. For more information, see Export to a CSV file.

  • From the Sort by menu, you can sort the current data list by various data points. For more information, see Sort the data list.

  • From the View by menu, you can choose to show items, documents/tables, or conversations. For more information, see Change the data grouping.

  • From the sample menu () select the percentage of the items in the data list to randomly sample. Use the slider to set the desired percentage, and then click APPLY. The list refreshes and displays the selected percentage of data items that were in the previous list.

TIP: For lists that contain less data, the amount of data sampled may not be the exact percentage. The more data in the list, the more accurately the resulting sample represents the percentage defined.

Filter panel

The filter panel lets you search for data that match specific criteria. The VIEWING box at the top of the filter panel identifies the search criteria that defines the data in the list. If viewing anything other than the full list of managed data, click the X to restore the view to all data.

For more information about filter searches, see Filter search.

Data list panel

The data list panel displays all data you are currently viewing. When you log on to Analyze, and navigate to Research, the data list includes all data managed by Fusion that you have permission to view. As you make selections in the filter panel, the list updates to reflect your selections. When you conduct an advanced search, the list displays the data that meets your selected criteria.

For more information about the list panel, see Data list.

Data view panel

NOTE: Applies to unstructured data and structured data not from Structured Data Manager sources.

The content view panel displays the contents of the data currently selected in the data list. The view you see depends on how the data was processed.

Fore more information about the data view panel, see Data view.

Data detail panel

The data detail panel displays pertinent data analysis, applied tags, and metadata for the document currently selected in the document list.

For more information about the document detail panel, see Data detail
