In asynchronous sessions, you can use the history feature to review data no longer displayed in the emulation window. As a line scrolls off the screen, it is stored in the history buffer. You can view, copy, and paste this information.
The history appears above the first page. When you display the history buffer, the vertical scroll bar shows your position within the viewed page and history buffer. The history buffer area is indicated with a colored background.
You can save the history buffer information when you exit. When you start your session again, existing history is restored to the history buffer.
NOTE:If you enable history before you change between 80 and 132 columns, any information on the page when you make the change is retained in the history buffer, even though the page is cleared.
To store text that scrolls off your screen
Use the options in the History page to specify values for history buffer operations.
If you want to retain History from the current session to use in a future session, select Retain History and specify a file name in which to store the history information. When you start the session again, existing history is restored to the history buffer.
From the Options menu, choose Settings.
Under Categories, choose Display.
On the History page, select Enable History.
Select Include Scrolling Region Data if you want to include data scrolled off or cleared from the scrolling region.
In the Maximum Size drop-down list, select a value other than Unlimited to limit the size of the history buffer.
To retain history between sessions, under Retain History, select Enable, then, in the Filename box type a file name for your history file. The next time you start your session, existing history is restored to the history buffer.
To view the history buffer, use the vertical scroll bar on the right side of the display window.
NOTE:To bring a history file into a text editor, view the history file in the display window. Then copy and paste the information you want into a document in the text editor. To change the color of the history buffer, change the RGB value for VT Color Index 8 in the Settings, Display Color page. From the Options menu, choose Settings. Under Categories, choose Display, then choose the Color tab.
To clear history
From the Edit menu, choose Clear History. This removes all information from the history buffer.
