Extra! X-treme 9.6 Update 1 includes several improvements and a number of software fixes and enhancements. Many of these improvements were made in direct response to suggestions from our customers. NOTE:The built-in Extra! FTP client was removed in the 9.6 release. It is recommended to use the Reflection FTP client, which ships with the product and contains the latest in security, encryption, and cryptography technology.
Extra! 9.6 Update 1 includes the following new features and resolved issues.
9.6 Update 1 Fixes and Enhancements
When upgrading from previous versions of Extra! X-treme to the latest version (9.6 Update 1), the existing “user data location” will be recognized and all the previous SSH configuration parameters, including those for the Reflection FTP client, will be found and used.
Developed a fix to correctly identify and read Extra! Basic Header (.EBH) files to prevent issues with ecrypted macros failing to compile or run.
Resolved a run-time error that was caused by a VBA application using early binding calls to the Extra COM interface.
Resolved an issue where the copy and paste toolbar buttons do not have the proper state.
9.6 Fixes and Enhancements
Added support for Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) algorithms in SSH. Support for ECDSA and EdDSA (curve 25519) algorithms can be used for key-exchange, host authentication, and user authentication.
Added support for TLS version 1.3 for IBM, VT, and FTP sessions.
Migrated the legacy product help to a html-based guide.
Added support for the Microsoft Windows 10 and Windows Server 2019.
Added support for Microsoft Office 2019.
Improved the “look and feel” (branding and icons) of the product as part of a greater redesign of Micro Focus products.
Removed kerberized telnet settings from the Secure Shell Settings dialog box in this release.
The default VT transport was changed to SSH.
Improved the installation experience of the ICT (Installation Customization Tool)
Extended support for Shared EHLLAPI shortnames without administrative privileges on Windows 10.
Maintained customers are eligible to download Extra! X-treme 9.6 Update 1 from the Downloads website.

NOTE:Extra! X-treme is a 32-bit application that can run in the 64-bit Windows environments listed above.
* Windows 7 is no longer supported by Microsoft, but Extra! X-treme 9.6 Update 1 should work on Windows 7. Micro Focus provides Customer Support to maintained customers on Micro Focus client desktop products that are being run on supported operating systems and meet the criteria in the Product Support Lifecycle.
If an issue does occur on Windows 7, Micro Focus Customer Support will work to isolate the cause of the problem and may ask you to duplicate the issue in a currently supported operating system environment. If we believe that the cause of the problem is in the hardware or operating system layer of the environment and does not occur outside the environment, we may direct you to your operating system vendor for technical support.
