CICS Term

Name

Specify the name for this Term.

Grp

Choose a group to which this Term will belong. The list of groups from which you can choose include only those which can be edited by you.

Description

Specify a description for this Term.

Model

Choose whether or not this terminal definition can be used as a model terminal definition for autoinstall:

  • No - can be used only for a specific device that is not autoinstalled.
  • Yes - can be used as a model for autoinstall, as well as for a specific device that is not autoinstalled.
  • Only - can be used only as a model for autoinstall.
Model Name

Applicable only if Model is Yes or Only. Specify the name by which the definition is known to the Autoinstall Control Program. Specify a name of up to eight characters in length. Acceptable characters are A through Z, 0 through 9, $, @ and #. Defaults to the name of this Term.

Terminal Type

Specify the associated Typerterm definition, which must exist. Mandatory.

Net Name

Specify the terminal's network name. Mandatory if Model is 'Yes' or 'No'. The name can be up to eight characters in length. Acceptable characters are A through Z, 0 through 9, $, @ and #. The first character must be a letter.

Remote Name

Specify the remote name. Applicable only for remote terminals. Necessary only if it differs from the local terminal name.

Remote SysID

Specify the remote system ID that holds the terminal definition. Applicable only for remote terminals. This must correspond to one of:

  • The Local SYSID field in the SIT used to run the related remote MSS region.
  • The APPLID of another CICS system.
Transaction

Specify a transaction name. This specifies the only transaction that users can run from this terminal, apart from print and paging requests. Optional. If not specified, users can run any transaction from this terminal.

Priority

Specify the priority for transactions run from this terminal. Defaults to 0 (zero). Terminal priority is one factor in determining a transaction's execution priority, which is the sum of:

  • Terminal priority (this field)
  • Transaction priority
  • Operator priority

The sum cannot be greater than 255.

In Service

Check this to specify that this terminal is in service; that is, transactions can be initiated and messages sent.

Main Printer

Specify the printer used for handling print requests. This printer must be owned by the system that owns the terminal. The name can be up to four characters in length.

Prt. Copy

Check this to specify that the hardware copy feature (using the printer defined for this terminal) is used for print requests issued from this terminal.

Alternate Printer

Specify the printer used for handling print requests if the printer specified in Main Printer is unavailable. This printer must be owned by the system that owns the terminal. The name can be up to four characters in length.

Alt. Prt. Copy

Check this to specify that the hardware copy feature (using the alternate printer defined for this terminal) is to be used for print requests issued from this terminal.

User ID

Specify a user ID to be associated with the terminal. If the terminal definition includes a user ID, Enterprise Server honors the terminal user ID, and you can leave the this field blank.

CAUTION:
When the user ID is specified in the terminal definition, this logs you into the terminal without password verification. Use with care!
Language

Choose the national language in which messages are sent over the connection. You can choose English or Kanji.

Security Name

Specify the security name for the terminal. Required only if the terminal is owned by a remote system and the connection method is APPC. Can be up to eight alphanumeric characters from the set A through Z, 0 through 9, $, @ and #.

Attach

Choose the level of security required when a user issues an attach request from this terminal:

  • Identify - Incoming attach requests must specify a user ID
  • Verify - Incoming attach requests must specify both a user ID and a password
  • Persistent - The first attach request must specify both a user ID and a password, but subsequent attach requests require only a user ID
  • Mixed - Incoming attach requests may specify either Identify or Persistent
  • Local - The authority of the user is taken to be that of the link
Oper ID

Specify an operator ID to be used for routing messages. Specify this for a terminal that cannot be signed on, such as a printer. If you specify an operator ID for a terminal that can be signed on, it is overridden by the operator ID specified in the user's sign-on table entry. Up to three alphanumeric characters.

Oper Priority

Specify the operator priority for transactions run from this terminal. Specify this for a terminal that cannot be signed on, such as a printer. If you specify it for a terminal that can be signed on, it is overridden by the operator priority specified in the user's sign-on table entry. Defaults to 0 (zero). Operator priority is one factor in determining a transaction's execution priority, which is the sum of:

  • Terminal priority
  • Transaction priority
  • Operator priority (this field)

The sum cannot be greater than 255.

Resource Keys, all

Choose a setting to apply to all the resource keys:

  • On - enables all the resource keys
  • Off - disables all the resource keys
Resource Keys, 1 - 24

Check any of the boxes 1 through 24 to activate that resource key.

Active, Display

Click this to display the currently installed definition of this resource.

Active, Install

Click this to install (make active) this resource.

Delete

Click this to delete this Term. This button is displayed only after you click Add.

Copy

Click this to create a new Term, using the values set on this page as the basis for the new Term. This button is displayed only after you click Add.

Dump

Click this to create and view dump information for this Term. This button is displayed only after you click Add.
