For
Enterprise Server regions that support CICS or JES, you can specify a threshold that will trigger a warning message and/or a threshold that
triggers a warning message followed by a task purge (kill) function which operates within a target region. The thresholds
can be specified for each of the following:
- CPU consumption, in milliseconds (ms).
- Memory usage, in kilobytes (kB).
- Elapsed time, milliseconds (ms).
Warning messages are sent to the console. See
CASKC6000 - CASKC6019 and
CASKC6020 - CASKC6039 for more information on returned warning messages.
Note: There are no constraints on the combination of warning or purge thresholds that can be specified.
- Name
- The THRESHOLD name is a transaction match name. You can specify a prefix followed by the wildcard *. For example, the threshold
name of AC* will match any transaction starting with AC, such as AC01, ACCT, and so forth.
For CICS, if the program starts with DFH*, EZACIC*, but excluding DFHWB*, the threshold will not be applied to the transaction.
Default values can be defined for CICS, JES, IMS, or CGI by creating a threshold name of =CIC, =JES, =IMS, or =CGI respectively.
Note: The CGI type will apply to the ESCWA and ESMAC casrdxxx modules.
- Group
- Choose a group to which this resource will belong. The list of groups from which you can choose include only those that can
be edited by you.
- Description
- This is a description of the resource.
- Resource Type
- Type of resource the threshold will be applied to:
- Stepname
- The stepname to be applied to the threshold.
- CPU Warning
- Amount of CPU usage, in milliseconds (ms), before a warning message is issued.
- CPU Purge
- Amount of CPU usage, in milliseconds (ms), before the process is purged (killed).
- Memory Warning
- Amount of MEM usage, in kilobytes (kB), before a warning message is issued.
- Memory Purge
- Amount of MEM usage, in kilobytes (kB), before the process is purged (killed).
- Elapsed Time Warning
- Amount of elapsed time, in milliseconds (ms), before a warning message is issued.
- Elapsed Time Purge
- Amount of elapsed time, in milliseconds (ms), before the process is purged (killed).
