ENQ Model

Use this page to create a new ENQ model resource.

An ENQ model defines a named resource for which the EXEC CICS ENQ and EXEC CICS DEQ commands have a sysplex-wide scope.

Note: You can use a ENQ model across a Performance and Availability Cluster (PAC).

Click Install to install this resource.

Click Active to make this resource active.

Click Delete to delete this ENQ model.

Click Copy to create a new ENQ model, using the values set on this page as the basis for the new ENQ model.

Click Dump to create and view dump information for this ENQ model.

Click Apply to save your changes to the ENQ model.

Description: A description of the ENQ model resource and its use.
Enable: Check this to enable the ENQ model resource.
ENQ Scope: Specifies the set of regions that share the same enqueue scope. If the ENQ scope attribute is left blank (the default value), CICS treats any matching ENQ or DEQ as local to the issuing CICS region. If the ENQ scope is non-blank, CICS treats the ENQ or DEQ as sysplex-wide and passes a queue name and the resource name to GRS to manage the enqueue.
ENQ Name: Specifies the 1 to 255-character resource name. You can also use an * (asterisk) as the last character, to denote a generic name.
ENQ in Shared Memory: Check this to force the ENQ to be stored in shared memory.
Note: This must only be used when you can ensure that the ENQ will be taken from a single region.
