Client Configuration

The following section covers the client setup required before you begin using Database Connectors for Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) on a new system. The Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS must be installed and configured on the server prior to this, and must be at least version 6.5. Your client must also contain a correctly configured driver for the intended data source.

During the client installation, you will also be required to install some stored procedures; therefore, you require something such as Microsoft SQL Server's Query Analyzer or SQL Server command-line tools to run a query that installs these stored procedures.

Note: The default sort order for MSSQL is case-independent. Make sure that this is what you really want when you install the server. The Database Connectors connector uses the sort order as installed and cannot change its behavior to do case-dependent ordering if that is not what the server uses.

Follow the instructions below, which require you to install on both the server and the client. Where necessary, be sure to use the 64-bit libraries with a 64-bit run time system and 64-bit Database Connectors for MSSQL, and the 32-bit libraries with a 32-bit run time system and 32-bit Database Connectors for MSSQL.
