Before you create a remote Samba connection,
Micro Focus recommends that you configure your system by doing the following.
- Go to the Start menu and open the
Registry Editor application.
- In
Registry Editor, go to the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
- In the tree view, right-click
System and click
.
- In the
Name field, type
EnabledLinkedConnections.
- Double-click the EnabledLinkedConnections registry entry to edit it.
- In the
Edit dialog box, type
1 in the
Value data field, and click OK.
- Exit
Registry Editor and restart your machine.
- After the restart, open
Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanworkstation\Parameters.
- In
Parameters, create three registry entries of type
DWORD (32-bit) Value with value
0 and name them:

FileInfoCacheLifetime
- FileNotFoundCacheLifetime
- DirectoryCacheLifetime
- Exit
Registry Editor.
