To create a connection to a remote host using Samba

Before you create a remote Samba connection, Micro Focus recommends that you configure your system by doing the following.

1. Go to the Start menu and open the Registry Editor application.
2. In Registry Editor, go to the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.
3. In the tree view, right-click System and click New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
4. In the Name field, type EnabledLinkedConnections.
5. Double-click the EnabledLinkedConnections registry entry to edit it.
6. In the Edit dialog box, type 1 in the Value data field, and click OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor and restart your machine.
8. After the restart, open Registry Editor and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Lanmanworkstation\Parameters.
9. In Parameters, create three registry entries of type DWORD (32-bit) Value with value 0 and name them:
   • FileInfoCacheLifetime
   • FileNotFoundCacheLifetime
   • DirectoryCacheLifetime
10. Exit Registry Editor.
