Specify the ODBC driver setup for the datastore database which in this case, will store your VSAM files:
Configuring in a Windows environment
- In the search field next to the start icon, type ODBC and click
ODBC Data Sources (64-bit).
This opens the
ODBC Data Source Administrator (64-bit) application.
- Click
System DNS tab.
- Click
Add.
This opens the
Create New Data Source dialog box.
- Click
PostgreSQL ODBC Driver(ANSI).
- Click
Finish.
This opens the
PostgreSQL ANSI ODBC Driver (psqlODBC) Setup dialog box.
- In the
Data Source field, type
VSAM.
- In the
Description field, type a description for your datastore database. In this case, type
VSAM Datastore.
- In the
Database field, type
VSAM.
- In the
SSL Mode field, select
disable.
- In the
Server field, type the location of the PostgreSQL server. In this case, type
localhost.
- In the
Port field, type the port number to connect to the PostgreSQL server. In this case, it will be the default port, type
5432.
- In the
User Name field, type
postgres.
- In the
Password field, type the postgres user's password.
- Click
Save.
Configuring in a UNIX environment
Open the
.odbc.ini configuration file and add a data source entry for the datastore database which in this case, will store your VSAM files:
[PG.VSAM]
Driver = <driver-name>
Servername = <server-name>
Port = <port-no>
Database = VSAM
where:
- <driver-name>
- Specifies the name of the driver as configured in the
odbcinst.ini file; in the example above, that would be PostgreSQL .
- <server-name>
- Specifies the name of the server on which the database instance resides.
- <port-no>
- Specifies the port on which the database is listening, typically 5432.
- VSAM
- Specifies the name of our datasource database.
