This form of distributed processing operates in the same manner as the RUW for locations. If you use the SET LOCATION TO command in the SQL Wizard (Windows) or Interactive SQL Utility (UNIX) to attach to an XDB Link location, you can get back to a location through that same the SQL Wizard (Windows) or Interactive SQL Utility (UNIX) session from within that the SQL Wizard (Windows) or Interactive SQL Utility (UNIX) session. Within embedded SQL, a CONNECT RESET command can be used to return to a location.
XDB Link plus a few special entries in the XDB SYSTEM location's DSNDDF database are required to allow access to the mainframe DB2 Location. XDB Link provides transparent access to objects on the mainframe as though the mainframe were just another location on the server. The Distributed Relational Database Architecture (DRDA) is used in this configuration.
