To configure a Fileshare server for an enterprise server[8]

Note: Ensure that the Fileshare server and the enterprise server region are not running whilst you configure the connection.

Use these instructions to configure the connection from an enterprise server to a Fileshare server. This connection will be used when you Open a catalog file through a Fileshare server.

Connection details can be set at three different levels in the Server Explorer hierarchy (at the ESCWA node, the MFDS node, or the enterprise server node), with the levels below inheriting the connection details above.

  1. In Server Explorer, right-click the required node and select Properties.

    The ESCWA, MFDS, or Region Properties dialog box is displayed.

  2. In the left-hand pane, select Fileshare.

    The Fileshare properties are displayed in the right-hand pane.

  3. Select, and if required, configure a connection mode:
    Eclipse environment
    Select this option to use any Fileshare configuration (setting of related environment variables, etc...) made in the environment prior to starting Eclipse.
    Note: For further details on such configuration, refer to CCITCP Configuration.
    Micro Focus Directory Server/CCITCP2
    Select this option to use a Fileshare server through an MFDS connection - the available Fileshare servers, once they are running, are displayed in the ESCWA administration page, alongside the enterpriser servers for a particular MFDS.
    When an ESCWA node is selected, you must populate the Server address and Server port fields of the required MFDS manually. When an MFDS or enterprise server node is selected, the Server address and Server port fields are pre-populated with details relating to the local MFDS or the parent MFDS in the case of enterprise server nodes. You can override the default values and select a Fileshare server on a remote MFDS if you have one configured.
    Direct
    Use this option to specify one (or more) connections directly (using the CCITCP settings); for example, if you use a dedicated, non-default port. You can configure multiple direct connections, and then select the appropriate one at the point of opening the catalog file (see Open a catalog file through a Fileshare server).
    To create a new connection, click New catalog item (Add new Fileshare location), and then in the new tab, enter the Name (the name of the Fileshare server), Server address (the address of the machine on which the Fileshare server is running), and Server port (configured port of the Fileshare server - when using a non-default port, this is defined by the CCITCPS_<fs-server-name> environment variable).
    To remove a connection that is no longer required, select the appropriate tab, and then click Remove.
    Inherit
    Use this option to inherit Fileshare server connection details from the node above in the Server Explorer hierarchy) for example, an enterprise server node would inherit details from an MFDS node. Note, this option is not available for ESCWA nodes, as there is nowhere to inherit from at that node level.
  4. Click OK.

    You can now start the Fileshare server, and the enterprise server region that contains the catalog. Next time you open a catalog file through Fileshare (that is, the Physical location field of the item's properties is prefixed $$<fs-server-name>), the connection is used.
