- From the
Visual Studio IDE, open Server Explorer.
If it is hidden, display it by choosing
View > (Other Windows >) Server Explorer.
- Expand
Micro Focus Servers.
- Right-click
localhost, and click
New Enterprise Server.
This starts the
Create New Enterprise Server dialog.
- Type a name for your
enterprise server region into the
Name field.
- Depending on your requirements you can check
64-bit.
- Click the browse button next to the
Template field.

Enterprise Developer server templates which is
VSInstallDir\IDE\Extensions\nnnnnnnn.nnn\Etc\ServerTemplates\ by default, where
VSInstallDir is your Visual Studio installation directory.
- Select
IMSTemplate.xml, and click
Open.
Note: The IMS template sets the character codeset to ASCII by default. If your application uses EBCDIC, you must change this on
your enterprise server's
MSS IMS General page. See
Server Instance Properties: MSS IMS General
for more information.
- In the
Associate with projects box, check an IMS project that contains the application you want to run on the new enterprise server.
- Click
OK.
The Output window displays a notification that the server has been created.
- In Server Explorer, expand
localhost to check that the new enterprise server has been added to
localhost.
