IDz Function Package

This function package provides tools which depend on IDz. Therefore this function package is only available in IDz.

AWM supports the IDz specific concept of property groups which are used by IDz editors like the IDz COBOL, PL/I or LPEX editor to support syntax checking, content assist, program outline views and other editor features.

Note: There is a fundamental difference between Micro Focus and IDz editor support in modeled remote edit scenarios. Micro Focus editors require specific properties to support the background parsing process, for example, the SYSLIB property, whereas IDz requires an IDz property group which has to be associated to a file before editing this file. This has some implications on modelling the corresponding IDz tools which are described in this chapter.

Dependent on which edit tool is used, there are different options to associate property groups to an IDz file. If the IDz property group does not exist, it can be created using the Create Property Group tool.

An IDz local property group need to be associated to the local file.

This can be provided by AWM in two ways:

The AWM element has a property associated which is defined in the model with the special property attribute value “Property Group” and contains the value of an existing IDz local property group at run time. This IDz local property group is associated automatically to the local file if the Edit Local File tool is called and before the editor pops up.
The IDz tool "Associate Property Group" is used in an edit action before the edit tool is called.

An IDz remote property group need to be associated to the mainframe data set or member. The IDz tool "Associate Property Group" must be used in an edit action before the edit or browse tool is called.

The "Property Group" tools and the "Open MVS File" tool support the use of a mapping between a z/Server connection and a z/OS IDz connection. The intended scenario is a IDz client using a z/Server connection. In this scenario, the client uses the z/OS IDz connection for setting property groups. This combination results in the full z/Server support and additionally the full IDz editor and property group support.

The mapping can be defined in the group ‘IDz z/OS Server Mapping’ of the Server Settings dialog page of the properties dialog of any subsystem of a Micro Focus z/Server connection:
