A personal XDB Server is installed on your machine when you install SQL Option for DB2 (applies to Windows environments only). This local copy of XDB Server is the default server. It must be running before you can debug or run client applications against a local XDB database. The personal XDB Server can be installed as a Windows Service that is started automatically.
You can also run the XDB Server Blue Screen mode.
After installing and configuring the XDB Server and at least one client, you are ready to run your XDB Server.
When the XDB Server completes its initialization, users can access the locations controlled by the XDB Server immediately. See the topic Shutting Down an XDB Server for information about shutting down an XDB Server.
